Shtreimels and Smiles at Yeshiva of Flatbush

This October, The Traveling Chassidim visited the students of Yeshiva of Flatbush in Brooklyn.
In the school’s Bet Midrash, with the American and Israeli flags behind him, Rabbi Aryeh Royde, founder and director of The Traveling Chassidim, stepped up to the bimah with a microphone and a shtreimel in hand. The shtreimel is the round fur hat that many Chassidic men wear on Shabbos and Yom Tov.
Then came the best part: the students got to try them on. Boys stepped up, put on a shtreimel and posed with Rabbi Royde, and the grins in these photos say the rest.
Visits like this are what The Traveling Chassidim is all about: a little Chassidic warmth, a lot of joy, and a real connection between Jews of every background. From shtreimel to knitted kippah, we are one family.
