Matzah Baking Before Pesach 2020

There’s nothing quite like matzah you watched being made by hand.

Before Pesach 2020, The Traveling Chassidim took part in a matzah baking. In this photo, bakers in white smocks and gloves work the dough at long, paper-covered tables, rolling each matzah thin and fast. Speed matters: matzah has to go from flour and water into the oven quickly, so the dough never has a chance to rise.

Hands-on mitzvos like this bring Pesach to life for the whole family. Seeing it done, and trying it yourself, turns a box on the Seder table into something you will remember.
