Kumzits BBQ in Jamaica, Queens
On Tuesday, July 2, 2024, Nishmat Ezra and The Traveling Chassidim brought Ezra students and alumni together for a summer Kumzits BBQ with Rabbi Geller in Jamaica, Queens.
Mazal and Moshe Rafailov opened their home for the event. A kumzits is the Jewish tradition of sitting together and singing, from slow, heartfelt niggunim to the lively songs everyone knows, and a summer barbecue is a natural partner for it.
Kumzitzes like this are one of our favorite parts of what we do: contemporary Jewish songs, traditional Yiddish classics and heartwarming Chassidic stories, shared around the table with friends old and new.
Our thanks to the Rafailov family for their hospitality, to Rabbi Geller, and to Nishmat Ezra for bringing everyone together.
