Torches and a Bonfire: Lag Ba’omer with Ezra Academy

Lag Ba’omer 2025 fell on May 15–16, and The Traveling Chassidim celebrated it together with Ezra Academy at TC HQ, 9 Wendover Lane in Suffern, NY.

After nightfall the torches came out. The group walked together carrying flaming torches and then gathered around a big bonfire, the way Jews have marked Lag Ba’omer for generations in honor of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai.

It wasn’t the first time Ezra has spent time with us. Ezra boys have also joined The Traveling Chassidim for a “Shabbos in the Shtetl” in Monsey, opening at the home of the Royde family, where they reflected on the value of spending the years after high school learning in Israel.

Thank you to Ezra Academy for celebrating with us. We can’t wait for the next bonfire!
